About this course

Participants make a half-lap joint from scratch, working through accurate measuring and marking, straight sawing, and waste removal. They then use a sharp chisel to refine the joint and review the quality of their work, including what could be improved. The session uses practical instruction and active tool work rather than a theory-heavy introduction, with a maximum of eight participants allowing for instructor attention.

What you'll learn

  • Measure and mark wood accurately
  • Saw along a marked line
  • Remove waste with a hand saw
  • Refine a joint using a sharp chisel
  • Assess the quality of a half-lap joint
