About this course

Participants investigate how unwanted bottle, window and other glass can be broken, reassembled and reformed into fused, slumped and three-dimensional pieces. The course introduces glass handling, cutting, breaking and construction processes, with set tasks developed through individual projects. Teaching combines practical workshop demonstrations, discussion, observation and one-to-one feedback. Learners present their glass forms to the group at the end of the course, outlining how their work developed. More experienced participants can use the projects to explore upcycling through more self-directed work.

What you'll learn

  • Produce fused, slumped or three-dimensional glass test pieces using creative technical processes.
  • Assess the suitability of different glass materials for kiln-forming and glassmaking.
  • Apply safe handling, cutting, breaking and construction methods in a glass studio.
