Knotted textile jewellery

About this course

The workshop examines examples of knotted cords and textile jewellery before introducing techniques through tutor demonstrations. Participants then develop textile forms using threads, yarns, fabrics and embroidered beads, experimenting with tactile surfaces, sculptural shapes and colour combinations. Practical sessions cover forming and finishing knotted cords, including specific knots and hand-sewing. Teaching combines group demonstrations, recap as needed and individual guidance, with participants working towards at least one finished piece of textile jewellery.

Is this course right for you?

The course is designed for learners at all levels and takes the form of an informal, practical workshop. Participants work through demonstrations and workshops, with group recaps and individual guidance available as needed. Good hand dexterity is identified as suitable for the detailed textile work.

Before you go

• All essential materials and sewing tools are provided.
• Participants may bring their own sewing kit, cords, threads, knitting yarns, fabrics or textile off-cuts if they wish.
