Korean Language for Travel

About this course

The course develops practical Korean for travel, covering greetings, introductions, hotels, cafés and restaurants, directions, transport, shopping and unexpected situations such as delays or lost items. Learners practise high-frequency phrases, polite language and service interactions, with pronunciation guidance and strategies for rephrasing or asking for clarification when a word is missing. Teaching uses guided conversations, mini role-plays and realistic travel tasks. Romanisation supports early speaking practice, while learners are introduced progressively to Hangeul alongside everyday etiquette and travel-related cultural information.

The course is intended for beginners and near-beginners seeking practical Korean for travel. Learners may have studied very little Korean or recognise a few basic words and phrases. Participation centres on guided speaking tasks, role-plays and realistic travel scenarios, so learners should expect regular face-to-face interaction.

• Some basic Korean is helpful, but the course is also designed to support learners with limited prior study.
