What Elementary (A2) Korean means

At A2 Korean, learners can handle simple routine exchanges and describe familiar aspects of everyday life.

  • Describe your routine

저는 보통 버스로 출근하고 여섯 시에 집에 와요.

I normally go to work by bus and return home at six.

  • Make a simple plan

토요일 오후에 같이 영화 보러 갈까요?

Shall we go to the cinema together on Saturday afternoon?

  • Talk about the recent past

    어제 친구들과 저녁을 먹고 산책했어요.

Yesterday I had dinner with friends and went for a walk.

These are general examples of language use at this level, not a description of any individual course syllabus.

About this course

The course focuses on communicating about places and locations in Korean. Learners practise asking about destinations, describing where people and objects are, discussing movement to and from places, and using relevant particles, negation and existence expressions. Vocabulary includes everyday locations and positional terms. Lessons combine spoken communication with systematic work on grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. Group activities and role-plays provide opportunities to use the language, while the teacher conducts the class in Korean to develop listening and comprehension. The course also introduces cultural references including PC방, 찜질방, 노래방 and Insa-dong.

What you'll learn

  • Ask and answer questions about destinations and locations.
  • Describe the position or location of people and objects using appropriate expressions.
  • Use the locative particles N에 and N에서 in relevant sentences.
  • Form negative statements with 안 V.
  • Express location, existence and movement using 있어요/없어요, 가요 and 와요.
  • Use vocabulary for places, locations and positional terms in everyday Korean.
