About this course

The course develops everyday Korean communication through group activities, role-plays and conversation conducted in Korean. Topics include leisure, family relationships, personal interests, introducing people, expressing feelings and making plans, alongside polite and respectful language. Lessons also examine grammar and pronunciation, including suggestions with V-(으)까요?, ㄷ irregular verbs, demonstratives, reactions with A/V-네요, possessive structures and expressions for describing abilities. Vocabulary work covers leisure activities, relationships, numbers and honorific language. The course also introduces cultural information about ways of meeting a romantic partner in Korean society.

Is this course right for you?

This course is intended for Elementary (A2) learners who have already studied Korean Level 5 or completed at least 60 class hours. Participants should be prepared to work with fellow students through group activities and role-plays, with the teacher using Korean throughout the lessons.

• Previous Korean study equivalent to Level 5 or at least 60 class hours is required.
• The course includes regular group work and role-plays.
• The teacher conducts lessons in Korean, providing listening and comprehension practice.

• The recommended coursebook is Seoul National University Korean Book 1A and Book 1B, Korean alphabet, ISBN 978-8953949447. The course uses Unit 8 from Book 1A and Unit 9, Part 1, from Book 1B.
