What Elementary (A2) Korean means

At A2 Korean, learners can handle simple routine exchanges and describe familiar aspects of everyday life.

  • Describe your routine

    저는 보통 버스로 출근하고 여섯 시에 집에 와요.

    I normally go to work by bus and return home at six.

  • Make a simple plan

    토요일 오후에 같이 영화 보러 갈까요?

    Shall we go to the cinema together on Saturday afternoon?

  • Talk about the recent past

    어제 친구들과 저녁을 먹고 산책했어요.

    Yesterday I had dinner with friends and went for a walk.

About this course

The course develops Korean communication through group activities and role-plays, with the teacher using Korean throughout to support comprehension and listening. Lessons also include systematic work on grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. Topics include introducing family members, arranging meeting times, asking about schedules and discussing opening hours for public facilities. Language work covers active verbs, time expressions and the structures N(이)세요, N부터 N까지, V-아서/어서 and V-(으)ㄹ 거예요, using SNU Korean Book 1B, Units 9 and 10.

Is this course right for you?

This course is for learners continuing beyond the initial stages of Korean. Although labelled Elementary (A2), it requires previous study equivalent to Korean Level 6 or at least 72 class hours. Participation includes spoken communication, group work and role-plays.

  • The course involves regular interaction with other learners.
