Landscape and nature photography : discovering woods & wildlife in Rotherhithe

About this course

Participants make photographs of woods, wildlife, landscape and riverside environments while exploring composition, camera settings, natural light and changing weather conditions. The course also considers conceptual approaches to environmental and wildlife photography, including how a single image or project can communicate a story. Teaching takes place outdoors through guided activity, group discussion and regular tutor feedback. Individual guidance is available during the session, including advice on selecting suitable settings and developing photographic ideas.

The course welcomes learners at all levels, although participants should already be comfortable using their camera. It involves walking a considerable distance over varied terrain, with regular stops and opportunities for group discussion and individual guidance.

Before you go

• Bring a camera with fully charged batteries, preferably with a spare set, and sufficient space on the memory card.
• A tripod may be useful but is not essential.
• Check the weather forecast and dress appropriately; waterproof clothing may be needed.
• A plastic bag can help protect the camera from rain.
• A foldaway stool, drink and snack may be useful.
• Bus travel may be required, so bring an Oyster card or contactless payment method.
