About this course
The workshop examines the equipment and working methods used in large-format photography, including lens choice, camera movements, perspective correction, depth-of-field control and handheld light metering. It also considers the advantages and limitations of the format alongside digital technology. Teaching combines talks, demonstrations, group discussion and practical exercises. Participants work with 5×4-inch film, covering film loading, image capture, black-and-white processing, scanning and digital printing.

Is this course right for you?
The course is intended for learners who are new to large-format photography but already fairly proficient with manual camera exposure settings. Participation includes following written and verbal instructions, joining group discussions and completing simple measurements and calculations.

Before you go
- Some black-and-white film and enough processing chemistry for a couple of sheets are provided.
- Participants wishing to shoot colour film or use additional black-and-white sheets must supply their own film.
