About this course
Participants develop large-scale work from objects, found images, sketches and imagination, exploring how scale influences composition, proportion and mark-making. The course covers large formats, scaling up preliminary studies and using floors, walls and other supports for mixed-media processes. Teaching includes mini lectures, project briefings, individual and collaborative work, group discussions and reflection on participants’ own creative practice. The course also considers artists who have made large-scale work, including their methods and approaches to display.

The course is intended for learners with some drawing and painting experience, consistent with its Improver level. Teaching combines individual and collaborative projects with briefings, mini lectures and group discussion, and includes reflection on participants’ own work and progress.
