About this course

The course covers essential iPhone functions, including setting up passcodes, Touch ID, Wi-Fi, Siri, iCloud and password synchronisation. Participants will practise transferring data, managing Gmail, Google Calendar and contacts, and using iMessage and FaceTime. Further activities include accessing and editing photographs, creating Notes and adding images, and downloading apps and games. Teaching is step by step, with tutor guidance and opportunities to practise tasks individually, in pairs and in groups while understanding how the functions work.

What you'll learn

  • Configure an iPhone, including passcodes, Touch ID, Wi-Fi, Siri, iCloud and password synchronisation.
  • Transfer data from an existing phone and synchronise Google accounts, contacts and calendars.
  • Use iMessage and FaceTime to send media and make audio or video calls.
  • Capture, access and edit photographs using the iPhone camera.
  • Create, edit and organise Notes, including adding photographs.
  • Download apps and games to an iPhone.

The course is intended for beginner-level learners who want to improve their general digital literacy through using an iPhone. The teaching involves guided practice and participation in a range of formats, including individual work, paired activities and group work.

  • Learners can take part through individual, paired or group activities.
  • Work outside class is included through Google Classroom.
