About this course
The course introduces The Free Association’s approach to long-form improvisation. Learners practise active listening, cooperation and the “yes and” principle, developing scenes by accepting and building on contributions from others. Sessions also cover spontaneity, emotional commitment and basic space work using mime. Participants practise creating complete improvised scenes from a one-word suggestion, including performing scenes from beginning to end.

Is this course right for you?
The course is intended for beginners and has no prerequisite, so learners can join regardless of previous experience. It involves collaborative work with other participants, spontaneous play and improvised scene performance. Learners with limited previous improv training, particularly outside this style, are also directed to this level.
