About this course
The course develops productive, receptive and conversational BSL across subjects including home life, social activities, education, employment, daily living, and Deaf history and culture. It also examines the structure and function of BSL, alongside the Deaf Community and Deaf Culture. Learning may involve pair and group work, lectures, presentations, debates, conversation practice, research and video-based receptive-skills activities. The qualification is completed through externally assessed units covering formal presentation, informal conversation and receptive skills.

Is this course right for you?
This course is intended for learners who already have competence in Signature’s BSL Level 2 examination and have been recommended for Level 3. An interview assesses signing before enrolment, and basic literacy is needed for written self-evaluations, notes and assessment instructions.
- An interview is required before enrolment
- Applicants need to bring their BSL Level 2 certificate to the interview
- Substantial study outside class is required
- Teaching includes pair and group work as well as individual presentations and discussions
