About this course
This qualification develops advanced British Sign Language across social and professional contexts. Study covers sign linguistics and communication relating to medicine, education, employment, finance, politics, law, society, media, science and technology. Teaching combines classroom activities with individual or group tutorials, demonstrations, presentations, debates, discussions, observed practice and video-based receptive-skills work. Learners use reference sources to clarify signs, maintain extended signed communication and complete six unit assessments for the full Level 6 certificate.

Is this course right for you?
The course is intended for learners who can demonstrate BSL competence at Level 4 or an equivalent standard. The advanced label indicates study beyond fundamental language skills, with substantial independent work alongside classroom, individual and group activities.
