Life Drawing – All Levels

About this course

The course develops approaches to drawing the human form through work on scale, proportion, perspective, anatomy, composition and framing. Participants use measuring tactics to place figures on the page, investigate negative space, and experiment with line quality, mark-making, colour and other experimental directives. Historical and contemporary approaches to figure drawing are also considered. Teaching combines individual verbal feedback, discussions, project work and informal group critiques at the end of each session. Participants work with the tutor to create a Personal Learning Plan that identifies their learning goals and tracks their progress.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for learners at all levels, including those continuing an existing practice. It involves individual drawing projects, discussions and informal group critiques, with verbal feedback from the tutor. Some prior knowledge of art materials, tools and techniques is required, and participants must be aged 19 or over on 31 August before the course starts.
