About this course
Working from a life model, participants investigate how analytical observation and experimentation can inform drawing. Activities include atmospheric mark-making, dynamic techniques, quick studies of the figure in movement, and mixed-media processes such as clayslip and wire-drawing. The course also introduces collaborative tasks and approaches to releasing control and accepting mistakes. Teaching combines practical exercises, demonstrations, individual support, group discussion and reflection on participants’ own work.

The course is intended for learners at all levels, including beginners and people with existing drawing experience who want to refresh their practice. Some previous drawing experience may be advantageous, but the course also accommodates exploratory learning through practical tasks, individual support, discussion and collaborative work.
