About this course

Students draw from a model in a range of short and long poses, with some extended poses continuing across sessions. The course focuses on observation, including colour harmonies, tonal scales, shape, planes, form and space, and their application to working from life. Teaching includes group question-and-answer sessions, demonstrations of technical processes, individual feedback while work is in progress, and group discussion and criticism. Each pose or session concludes with a final critique.

What you'll learn

  • Mix colour harmonies and tonal scales from observation
  • Recognise shape, planes, form and space in observed subjects
  • Apply observations of shape, planes, form and space to life drawing
  • Use drawing or painting techniques in response to short and extended poses
