Life sculpture for all levels: exploring the human form in clay

An all-levels clay sculpture course using observation of a life model, demonstrations and individual guidance to develop figurative modelling techniques.
About this course
Participants create a three-dimensional figure in clay by observing a life model and translating the human form into sculptural shape. Teaching combines demonstrations, group discussion, individual tuition and project work, with guidance adapted to different experience levels. The course covers measuring and recreating figurative form, refining clay, developing surface detail and finishing techniques. Later work includes hollowing the sculpture correctly and evaluating its progress through ongoing feedback and reflection.
