About this course
Participants will read and discuss a short story and several poems, using class reading, tutor-led presentation and group discussion to examine literary texts. The course introduces approaches to reading and analysing both fiction and poetry, with time to consider different responses to the works discussed. Copies of the readings are sent before the class, and the session also includes an overview of forthcoming literature courses.

This introductory course is intended for learners with an interest in reading and discussing literature. No previous knowledge or experience of literary study is necessary. Participation includes reading texts in class, discussing them with the group and considering other learners’ responses.
