The course examines how digital platforms and artificial intelligence are affecting political communication and public life in Britain. It considers algorithms’ influence on what people see, the spread of political messages, and the ways media environments can shape behaviour, belief and trust. Teaching is through interactive lectures, with class discussions and debates exploring the political uses of AI and social media, the distinction between information and misinformation, and the effects of algorithms on political discourse. Further reading is provided.
