About this course

Students build spoken Mandarin through role-plays and group activities based on commonly encountered situations. The course covers pronunciation, simple sentence structures, grammar and vocabulary, while the teacher uses Mandarin throughout to develop comprehension and listening skills. Learners also practise discussing likes, dislikes, daily routines, hobbies and opinions, as well as asking basic questions. The course introduces Hanzi characters through their strokes and structures, alongside systematic work on spoken communication.

Is this course right for you?

This course is intended for learners who have studied Mandarin Level 3 or completed a Mandarin course of at least 36 class hours, rather than complete beginners. The Elementary (A2) label indicates developing foundational language ability. Participation includes group work and role-plays, with Mandarin used throughout the class.
