About this course
The course develops spoken Mandarin through communication tasks covering ongoing and completed actions, telephone numbers, routines, travel and detailed descriptions. Vocabulary includes daily activities, everyday objects, clothing, transport and ways of expressing dates and times. Lessons combine group work and role-plays with systematic study of grammar and pronunciation. The teacher uses Mandarin throughout, giving learners regular listening and comprehension practice alongside speaking activities. Grammar includes aspect markers, modal particles, time and place emphasis, and other structures from Chapters 13 to 15 of the HSK Standard Course 1 syllabus.
