About this course
The course introduces mezzotint, a printmaking process used to produce deep blacks and soft mid-grey tones. Teaching combines a detailed demonstration with guided exercises using a mezzotint rocker, burnisher and scraper. Participants develop an image from their own drawing or photographic reference and transfer it onto a pre-rocked copper plate. The course also introduces alternative techniques related to mezzotint, alongside work on developing imagery into prints.
