About this course

Participants develop individual metal sculpture projects at an appropriate pace, with step-by-step instruction, demonstrations, observation and individual tuition. Group discussion, questions and answers, feedback and photographic recording support the development of each project, while learning goals are agreed with the tutor. New students receive an initial assessment and induction in gas and electric welding techniques. Returning or ongoing students can continue personal projects while investigating further techniques and processes. The course also covers constructing metal objects and maintaining high standards of health and safety.

What you'll learn

  • Develop and extend metalworking skills through individual sculpture projects.
  • Construct a metal object to a satisfactory standard.
  • Research and develop ideas through personal work and the work of other students.
  • Apply appropriate health and safety practices in metalworking.
  • Practise gas and electric welding techniques following an induction.
