Microsoft Excel for improvers: build confidence with formulas, tables, and data entry

About this course

The course develops spreadsheet skills through realistic datasets, set exercises and projects based on workplace scenarios. Tutor demonstrations introduce more advanced Excel features, including IF and Lookup functions, absolute, relative and mixed references, sorting, filtering, PivotTables, PivotCharts and printing options. Participants practise manipulating data and applying validation techniques, with additional exercises available for further practice and individual guidance where needed. Work completed in class is supplemented by study at home.

Is this course right for you?

This course is intended for learners who have completed a beginner Excel course or already use spreadsheets at level 1. The improver level indicates that participants will be developing beyond basic formulas, formatting and simple data management, with independent practice between classes.

• Basic Excel knowledge is expected, including common functions such as SUM, AVERAGE and COUNT
• Participants should be comfortable using a computer, saving and printing documents, and using email and the internet
• Additional work is expected outside class

• Learners are expected to complete work at home in addition to class activities.
• Additional Learning Support may be available following an interview, including in-class, small-group or one-to-one support.
