About this course

This workshop develops artwork through themed projects, with still-life displays providing a basis for direct observation and experimentation. Participants explore how to build layers, depth, texture, tone and pattern, moving beyond conventional drawing or painting approaches. The course also considers relevant historical and contemporary artworks, helping participants investigate different ways of recording and interpreting what they see. Work is developed through a project-based format, with scope for beginners and more experienced artists to pursue individual ideas.
