About this course

The course introduces printmaking processes that can be used to develop drawing ideas into prints. Participants work with etching, collograph and monoprint in a fully equipped intaglio print room, bringing their own ideas and source material as starting points.

The course is intended for beginners, and the source states that no drawing experience is required. Participants are expected to bring ideas and source material to inform their work.

Before you go

  • An intaglio print room is provided.
  • Participants should wear an apron or old clothes.
  • Bring basic drawing materials, an eraser and a nylon sable-type brush in sizes 2 to 6.
  • Optional equipment includes a dry point or etching needle, burnisher, magnifying glass and scraper.
  • Plates and paper can be purchased in the print room at around cost price; the source gives an average spend of £10 to £20 for the course.
  • Further material lists are provided one week before the course begins.
