Mosaic: practical projects using direct and indirect method

About this course

Participants develop mosaic projects from initial design through to assembly, comparing how direct and indirect methods affect structure, detail and finish. The course covers design planning, andamento, accurate tile cutting and the use of different adhesives and substrates. Teaching combines presentations, demonstrations, guided exercises and practice-led studio work, with discussion, peer input and tutor feedback incorporated throughout. Later sessions allow time for a personal project, while informal assessment focuses on practical work, reflection and project development rather than formal examinations.
