Narrative Improv Classes

About this course

Participants develop improvised narratives that progress from opening scenes to change and resolution. The course explores protagonists and antagonists, story spine, genre, plot development and the use of committed choices to move a story forward. Teaching also covers how performers balance storytelling with game, manage pacing and sustain multiple narrative threads. Teamwork, backline choices and stagecraft are used to support the wider show and create moments of surprise and intrigue for a live audience.
