About this course
The course takes participants to London locations to practise photographing in low light, including cityscapes, artificial lighting and moving subjects such as vehicle light trails. Teaching covers how natural and artificial light changes from dusk into darkness, the use of different lenses, manual camera settings and composition for evening images. The course also discusses equipment and accessories that can affect night-time results. Learning takes place in a group limited to eight, with individual attention and opportunities to work at an appropriate pace.

Is this course right for you?
The course is intended for improver-level photographers who already have a basic understanding of exposure, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, lenses and exposure modes, as well as familiarity with manual camera settings. It involves practical photography at outdoor London locations and is taught in a small group.
- A basic photography foundation is expected
- Photography takes place at outdoor city locations
- The group is limited to eight participants
Before you go
- Participants need a mirrorless, DSLR or compact camera with full manual controls, ideally with a wide-angle lens.
- A tripod is necessary. A camera and tripod can be provided for participants who do not have access to them.
- Recommended items include the camera manual, a fully charged battery, a spare battery if possible and an empty memory card.
- Comfortable shoes are recommended.
