About this course
Participants rehearse orchestral repertoire under the direction of a conductor and professional leader, concentrating on phrasing, accurate ensemble playing and attentive listening. Most teaching takes place with the full orchestra, supplemented by short sectional rehearsals for strings and winds. The workshop covers following a conductor’s beat, blending instrumental sounds, and managing balance and intonation. Participants prepare their own parts in advance and finish with an informal performance of the repertoire rehearsed.
What you'll learn
- Follow a conductor’s beat during orchestral rehearsal
- Play orchestral repertoire with attention to style and accuracy
- Adjust balance, intonation and tone to contribute to an ensemble sound
