Painted Sublimation Printing: Colour, Layering & Fabric

About this course

The course introduces three approaches to fabric printing: hand-carved blocks for repeat patterns, stencil-based screen printing, and transfer sublimation printing using painterly marks and colour. Learners explore pattern, composition, layering, simple registration, stencils and masks while developing designs from their own drawings or imagery. Teaching combines guided demonstrations with practical work, group discussion, questions and answers, and individual feedback. Activities include producing sample prints and developing fabric pieces such as tote bags, textile panels or scarves. Assessment is informal and ongoing, with observation of practical work and personal learning plans.
