Painting and Drawing at OSO Arts Centre Barnes

About this course

Participants develop artwork inspired by Barnes, including its buildings, streets, people, trees, parks and the River Thames, while also working from photographic images. Weather permitting, the course includes occasional outdoor sketching. Sessions explore drawing media such as pencil, coloured pencil, pen and ink, conté and crayons, alongside pastel, watercolour, gouache and acrylic painting techniques. The course uses practical exercises, individual feedback and Personal Learning Plans to help learners set targets and review their practice. There is no formal assessment, but participants keep written notes and consider their development with the tutor.

• Develop artwork from local subjects and photographic reference images

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for improvers with some prior knowledge of art materials, tools and techniques. Learners work on their own artwork while taking part in practical exercises, receiving individual feedback and reviewing personal targets with the tutor.

• Learners must be aged 19 or over on 31 August before the course starts
