Painting and drawing dialogues: looking back at self

About this course

Participants investigate the relationship between painting and drawing through structured practical projects focused on perception, composition, paint handling and colour. Workshops examine how personal ways of looking can influence image-making, with ideas developed across the sessions. Teaching combines demonstrations and presentations on selected artists with group discussions, evaluations and one-to-one guidance. Learners are encouraged to connect the different workshop themes and consider how their use of drawing, paint and palette relates to memory, imagination and expression.

This intermediate course is intended for learners with some painting or drawing experience, including those exploring the relationship between the two disciplines. Participation includes practical projects, group discussion and evaluations, individual guidance, and following written and verbal instructions, demonstrations and health and safety information.
