Painting and Drawing from Scratch

About this course

The course introduces drawing and painting through observation, with work on line, tone, composition and the relationship between colour and tone. Participants make thumbnail sketches to prepare paintings, work from a different still life each week and discuss a range of artists’ practices. Teaching combines practical exercises with tutor feedback and a Personal Learning Plan tailored to individual goals. The course is intended to provide a foundation for independent practice and further study.

Is this course right for you?

The course is presented for absolute beginners and learners with limited experience, although the provider also states that some prior knowledge of art materials, tools and techniques is required. Participation involves practical drawing and painting exercises, still-life work, tutor feedback and setting goals through a Personal Learning Plan.
