About this course
Participants develop a painting or related body of work from their own ideas, sketches or source material such as photographs and projections. The course examines how an initial image can be extended into a finished work through experimentation, layering, mixed media, collage and other image-making processes. Discussions consider visual language and issues in contemporary painting, with reference to current artists. Teaching combines practical work, group discussion and individual tutor guidance, allowing learners to assess and refine decisions as their work develops.
