About this course

Sessions combine vocal warm-ups with repertoire ranging from madrigals and Romantic part-songs to musical theatre and folk arrangements. Participants sing in harmony, sometimes in other languages, using scores or occasional word-sheets, with recordings and rehearsal files available online. Teaching also covers breathing, mouth shape, vocal range and basic musical theory. The group works at a gentle pace, adapting its approach to the repertoire and the needs of the choir, and gives informal performances at the end of term.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for improver-level singers who want to participate in a community choir. Some ability to read music is needed, and participants should be willing to sing in harmony and in different languages. The emphasis is on group singing at a measured pace rather than formal assessment.
