About this course
Participants learn to develop simple garment patterns from a standard-size block, with a different garment type introduced each term. The course covers technical pattern information, basic style manipulation and the use of toiles during pattern development. Teaching combines whole-class explanations, demonstrations, technical resources, discussion and one-to-one support. Learners receive regular feedback while working in shared fashion studios, with health and safety instruction required before using machinery or specialist equipment. The course also introduces sustainable approaches including waste reduction, recycling and upcycling.
