PC maintenance: an introduction

About this course

The course introduces the main components of a computer, their functions and common hardware and software terminology. Participants examine health and safety, computer maintenance and optimisation, then work through installing and configuring an operating system, drivers, antivirus software and selected computer components. Teaching combines step-by-step explanations, demonstrations, presentations and practical activities. Learners mainly work in groups while using computers and presentation materials to explore common faults, basic upgrades and troubleshooting methods.
