About this course

The course examines how natural and artificial intelligence can be understood, beginning with human insight and a brief history of AI before considering recent developments and large language models. It also explores probability, natural language, agency and the possibility of artificial general intelligence. Teaching addresses the Turing Test and its misuse, alongside the ways language can create confusion in discussions of AI. The course is designed to help learners distinguish established facts from hype and take part in informed discussion about AI’s philosophical challenges.
