Philosophy Intermediate- Ethics

About this course

The course examines philosophical approaches to ethics through the ideas of thinkers including Plato, Aristotle, Hume, Kant, Hegel, Nietzsche and others. Topics include moral realism and relativism, duty, utilitarianism, virtue ethics, social morality, pragmatism, and the relationship between free will and determinism. Classes are structured around discussion, with participants invited to explore arguments, debate different positions and question their assumptions. Progress is considered through class participation, formative assessment, self-assessment and a final assessment.
