Piano 2 – Post Beginners

About this course

Learners develop piano technique through a varied selection of pieces, ranging from simple tunes to more challenging repertoire suited to their level. Sessions also introduce basic harmony, music theory, posture and efficient playing technique. Teaching takes place in a classroom group, with listening activities to broaden musical appreciation and opportunities to investigate harmony creatively. The course addresses effective practice methods, while learners set individual goals and reflect on their development. Progress is assessed through practical classwork rather than a formal assessment.

Is this course right for you?

This course is intended for improvers who have completed a beginner piano course or already have basic piano knowledge. Learners are expected to recognise basic notation and notes on the piano, and to play some simple tunes. Group learning is combined with development at an individual pace.

• Knowledge of elements of Grade 1 Theory is expected
• Level 1 literacy is an advantage for working with course handouts
• There is no formal assessment
