About this course
Class work centres on repertoire selected by the tutor, with scope to bring other pieces, including music being prepared for a graded exam. Technique and musicianship are developed through sight-reading, scales, aural work and theory training. Learners also discuss peers’ performances and may use recordings, online video, mobile applications and Microsoft Teams as part of their music study inside and outside class.

Is this course right for you?
The course is intended for piano players with at least three years’ experience who are working around Grade 4 standard. Participation includes discussing peer performances in English and completing regular practice between classes.

- Learners should be able to follow discussions in English
Before you go
- Learners need access to an acoustic or digital piano outside class.
- Bring music scores relevant to the lessons, a notebook and a pencil.
- Keep a journal for tutor feedback and reflections on classwork and independent practice.

- Take regular breaks to stretch and relax, and maintain good posture while playing.
