About this course
Participants study repertoire selected by the tutor, or bring other works such as pieces being prepared for a graded exam. Lessons develop piano technique and musicianship through scales, sight-reading, aural work and theory training, alongside work on phrasing and pedalling. The class also includes discussion of peers’ performances. Digital resources, including recordings, online video, mobile applications and Microsoft Teams, may be used to extend music study beyond the classroom.

Is this course right for you?
The course is intended for intermediate players at around Grade 4 standard, with at least three years’ experience stated by the provider. Participation includes contributing to discussions in English, completing activities outside class and maintaining regular practice between sessions.

Before you go
- Bring relevant music scores, a notebook and a pencil.
- Other materials are supplied by the tutor.
- Learners should keep a journal for tutor feedback and reflections on classwork and personal practice.
- Regular practice of at least 30 minutes, four times a week, is expected.
- Careful posture and regular breaks to stretch and relax are advised when practising.
