Piano Lessons - Beginners

About this course

These practical group lessons introduce the layout of the keyboard, fundamental technique and the principles of reading piano music. Participants work on finger placement, hand and sitting position, scales, key signatures, chord progressions and relevant musical terminology. Practice includes a range of pieces as well as solo, duet and ensemble playing. The teacher provides individual feedback while learners work at their own keyboards, with exercises that also introduce improvisation.

• Read simple piano music and recognise relevant musical terminology
• Use scales, key signatures and chord progressions in basic playing

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for adults at beginner level, with a mix of group participation, individual keyboard practice and teacher feedback. Learners will take part in solo, paired and ensemble playing. The course states that participants must be at least 18 and have conversational English.
