About this course

The course combines historical and stylistic study with practical piano work. Participants explore Spanish musical language, cultural influences and the technical demands of selected works by Isaac Albéniz and Enrique Granados, supported by lectures and listening sessions covering context, biographies and style. Performance workshops involve presenting pieces or excerpts for feedback and discussion. Masterclass-style sessions address interpretation, colour and articulation, with repertoire including works from España, Suite Española, Recuerdos de viaje, Danzas Españolas and other collections.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for advanced pianists with skills approximately equivalent to Grade 8 ABRSM or above and the ability to read and interpret piano scores fluently. Participation is performance-based, with pieces prepared between sessions and presented in workshops. Familiarity with Romantic and early twentieth-century styles may help, but is not required.
