About this course

The workshop combines tutor explanation and demonstration with playing and listening activities. Participants study repertoire and studies at approximately Grade 6 standard, with scope to bring a chosen piece agreed with the tutor. Work addresses legato, tone quality, balance between hands and voices, articulation, pedalling, ornaments, phrasing and performance considerations. Technical study includes major and minor scales and related arpeggios, while sessions may also cover aural skills, musicianship and theory. Class discussions consider technical problems, musical style and interpretation.
