About this course

The workshop introduces electroplating as a jewellery-finishing and repair technique, including the roles of the anode and cathode and how different metals create silver, copper and gold-toned finishes. Participants prepare and clean a surface, set up and control the electrical supply, position their work, and address common plating problems. Teaching combines explanation of the equipment and solutions with guided practical work, including cleaning and finishing a plated piece. The workshop also considers electroplating as a way to create colour effects in jewellery.

Is this course right for you?

The workshop is open to all levels of experience and is intended for learners who want a guided, practical introduction to electroplating for jewellery. Participants work on a piece of their own and take part in the preparation, plating and finishing process.

Before you go

• Participants should bring a notebook and a piece of work to practise on.
• Reading glasses may be useful for those who need them.
• Participants leave with their own plated samples.
• Most of the workshop is at street level in a step-free showroom, but some specialist equipment is in a lower-level workshop accessible only by stairs. Contact the provider before booking to discuss access requirements and possible adjustments.
