What Elementary (A2) Polish means

At A2 Polish, learners can handle simple routine exchanges and describe familiar aspects of everyday life.

  • Describe your routine

Zwykle jeżdżę do pracy autobusem i wracam do domu o szóstej.

I normally go to work by bus and return home at six.

  • Make a simple plan

Chcesz iść do kina w sobotę po południu?

Would you like to go to the cinema on Saturday afternoon?

  • Talk about the recent past

Wczoraj zjadłam kolację z przyjaciółmi, a potem poszliśmy na spacer.

Yesterday I had dinner with friends and then we went for a walk.

These are general examples of language use at this level, not a description of any individual course syllabus.

About this course

The course develops Polish for everyday situations through lessons taught primarily in Polish. Learners practise speaking, listening, reading and writing while working with topics including clothing, colours, time, days of the week, daily routines and schedules. Teaching uses interactive activities such as group work and role-play, alongside language work on the accusative case, comparative and superlative adjectives, pronunciation and intonation. Progression is based on participation and self-study rather than formal tests.

What you'll learn

  • Discuss clothing, express preferences and describe what someone is wearing
  • Ask for and give the time, and discuss daily routines and schedules
  • Use vocabulary for clothing, colours, time and days of the week
  • Apply the accusative case to direct objects in singular and plural forms
  • Form and use comparative and superlative adjectives
  • Pronounce time-related expressions and use appropriate intonation when discussing routines
