About this course
This course places Myanmar’s current conflicts within its social, political and ancient history. It considers ethnic minority conflicts, identity and belonging, governance, land and resource dispossession, environmental impacts, and the development of democratic spaces. Teaching combines lecture material with classroom discussion. The course also examines traditions, civil society, the effects of conflict on women, and the links between ethnicity, resources, power, politics and violence.
